New Parade Signal Integrity and Switch Products Enable the Highest Data Rates for USB 3.1 and DisplayPort 1.4

Santa Clara, Calif.— 19 April 2017 —Parade Technologies, Ltd. (Taiwan OTC: 4966.TWO), a leading high-speed interface, video display, and touch controller IC supplier, today announced a new family of signal integrity devices that support latest USB 3.1 Gen 2 10Gbit/sec and DisplayPort 1.4 HBR3 8.1Gbit/sec data rates. These new devices are designed to implement USB-C in a USB Host / DisplayPort Alt Mode Source device and to support USB 3.1 signal conditioning. USB-C is becoming the connector of choice for both high speed data and high resolution video due to its ability to support the needed increase in bit rates enabled by USB 3.1 and DisplayPort 1.4.

Without a retimer, support of USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10 Gbit/sec) is typically limited to a PCB length of just several inches, which is not practical in many system usages, especially for the connection to the USB-C receptacle. Parade’s new family of USB 3.1 retiming devices pack in several innovative technologies, notably CrystalFree operation (no external reference clock or crystal needed), very low latency in the sub-nanoseconds, system transparent operation (redriver-like implementation), low operating power consumption and very low standby power. Field proven AUX-snooping technology is used for USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode.

In Parade’s new product line-up, support of both USB and DisplayPort Alt Mode on the Type-C connector begins with the PS8802. The PS8802 provides a bi-directional retimer for USB 3.1 and a redriver for DisplayPort 1.4. It also includes configuration switching for the USB-C port connector to support alternate USB / DisplayPort Alt Mode pin configurations and cable plug reversing. To support further system integration beyond the PS8802, the PS8804 additionally includes a USB-PD controller, and the PS8805 offers a TCPC (Type-C Port Controller).  Both the PS8804 and PS8805 are compliant to the USB Power Delivery Specification Rev. 3.0.

For USB-C connectors that do not require DisplayPort Alt Mode support, Parade offers the PS8803 and PS8803C.  Like the PS8802, both provide a bi-directional retimer for USB 3.1 and configuration switching for the USB-C port.  The PS8803 includes sensing of the USB-C CC pins to support automatic connector pin configuration.

For non-USB-C applications, Parade’s new family is complemented by the PS8801.  The PS8801 is a single port, dual-direction retimer for USB 3.1 Gen 2 operation.  It is applicable for boosting Enhanced SuperSpeed USB signals (up to 10 Gbit/sec) between USB components.

All six of the products support Intel’s DCI (Direct Connect Interface) for closed chassis debugging over the system USB-C port.

“Parade has established a good reputation as a retimer vendor with our current best-in-class HDMI 2.0 and DP 1.4 video interface retimer and jitter cleaning repeater products,” said Jimmy Chiu, Executive VP of Marketing at Parade Technologies.  “Our OEM customers are continuing to ask our help in high speed interfaces such as USB, DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0, so we are now aggressively bringing many such new products to the market.”
