Parade’s PS8926 is the First 16-Lane PCIe Gen 4 (16 Gbps) Retimer in Commercial Use
San Jose, Calif.— 13 August 2020 —Parade Technologies, Ltd. (Taiwan OTC: 4966.TWO), a leading high-speed interface, video display, and touch controller IC supplier, announces the mass production of the PS8926 PCI Express Gen 4 retimer for enterprise system deployment. This integrated device has completed rigorous testing and validation in enterprise-level network and storage systems now entering production. The PS8926 supports up to 16 bi-directional PCI Express Gen 4 lanes using 32 high-speed data channels operating at 16 Gbps.
The PS8926 follows closely in the wake of the PS8925, Parade’s 4-lane PCI Express Gen 4 retimer that was the first-ever PCI Express Gen 4 retimer to be used in production. The PS8926 includes16 bi-directional lanes supporting 1×16, 2×8, 4×4, and 8×2 PCI Express link bifurcations.
Parade’s PCI Express Gen 4 family of retimer devices, including the PS8925, PS8926, and PS8926A, all support Parade’s exclusive PABR (Protocol Aware Bit-level Retimer) mode that reduces latency to 2 nsec, well below the typical 43 nsec expected for a spec-compliant PCI Express Gen 4 retimer, increasing data throughput and greatly reducing memory access time.
“Parade is currently the only vendor with OEM production-proven PCI Express Gen 4 retimer chips,” says Jimmy Chiu, Executive VP of Marketing at Parade Technologies. “With the 4-lane PS8925 and 16-lane PS8926 and PS8926A, we are able to cover all Gen 4 expansion bus combinations. We are now working on a PCI Express Gen 5 retimer getting ready for the next generation of products.”
In addition to the PS8926, Parade also offers the similar PS8926A product that includes an internal temperature sensor. All of Parade PCI Express Gen 4 retimer devices include advanced lane margining capability for in-system testing, and they are compliant with the Intel PCI Express Gen 4 Retimer Supplemental Features and Standard BGA Footprint requirement.
The PS8926 is available for production now. It is available in an 8.9mm x 22.8mm 354-ball BGA package.
