The PS8926A is a bidirectional, 16-lane retimer (using a total of 32 data channels) that supports PCIe® (PCI Express®) Gen 4, with data rates up to 16Gbps.  It is low-latency capable and is ideal for applications incorporating high lane count PCIe bus widths such as workstations and enterprise data center systems including storage and servers. In addition to the features offered with the PS8926, the PS8926A also includes an internal temperature sensor.

As a retimer, the PS8926A removes unwanted and potentially error-inducing signal distortion introduced by cross-talk or system noise, or from physical interface loss including PCIe interconnect cables, PCB traces, and connectors.  The device enhances data transmission reliability and enables longer PCIe interconnect cables and/or PCB traces, enabling system scalability.
