New TrueTouch® Capacitive Touchscreen Controllers Offer Best-In-Class Performance and Feature Set for Premium Tablets and In-cell Smartphones
SANTA CLARA, California, 10 November 2015 – Parade Technologies, Ltd. (Taiwan OTC: 4966.TWO) today introduced two new device families into the TrueTouch® touchscreen controllers product line acquired from Cypress Semiconductor in August, 2015. The new TT41X and TT42X capacitive touchscreen controller families leverage the TrueTouch® patent portfolio with Parade’s mix-signal design expertise to provide best-in-class performance and use case flexibility. The TT41X controllers target premium tablets, and the TT42X targets smartphones with in-cell displays.
Both the TT41X and TT42X controller families offer passive stylus support with a stylus tip as small as 2.5 mm, enabling robust character recognition for languages such as Chinese, Korean and Japanese. The TT41X is designed for premium tablets by supporting high-SNR long-side scanning and passive stylus capabilities. The TT42X is designed for smartphones with support of in-cell displays. In addition to stylus support, the TT42X controller family offers superior two-finger wet-finger tracking, selectable screen-wake gestures, and the support of multi-touch using thick gloves.
The TrueTouch® TT41X/42X controllers provide best-in-class accuracy and linearity for a wide range of finger sizes and gloves materials and thicknesses, including ski gloves. The devices automatically switch between glove, stylus and finger tracking. They also offer best-in-class water rejection, wet finger tracking and immunity to electronic noise from aftermarket chargers and displays. The TT41X/42X controllers include up to 88 IOs with I2C and SPI interfaces.
“With these new controller products, Parade is expanding the TrueTouch® portfolio to serve our existing customer base that includes premium tablets and smartphones OEMs,” said Jimmy Chiu, Executive Vice-President of Marketing at Parade. “Passive stylus support and wet finger tracking are key features for our target markets, and no other touchscreen solution supports the combination of gloved-finger tracking, passive stylus and multi-finger wet finger tracking.”
Parade’s TrueTouch® touchscreen controller products include unique features backed by a portfolio of more than 100 capacitive touch sensing patents. The TT41X/42X leverages the patented and unique DualSense™ technology that allows both self-capacitance and mutual-capacitance measurements in the same device. Thes enables TrueTouch® solutions to offer the industry’s best water rejection and wet finger tracking for seamless performance in real-world conditions, including the presence of rain, condensation, or sweat.
The TT41X/42X controllers consume low power and feature a 32-bit ARM® Cortex™ M-Core processor known for high MIPS-per-milliwatt efficiency. The devices also deliver robust immunity to charger noise of up to 15V peak-to-peak (Vpp).
Availability
The TrueTouch® TT41X/42X controllers are currently in production. The controllers are available in a 111-uBGA package.
