2 Lane DisplayPort LCD Timing Controller For Embedded Systems

The DP603 is a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) timing controller (TCON) for embedded display applications. The device incorporates a DisplayPort receiver for the video input. The DP603 is a programmable and highly configurable TCON device suitable for many LCD panel and system configurations.

Embedded DisplayPort (eDP) is rapidly replacing LVDS as the video interface standard in embedded display application. eDP reduces wire count, power, and EMI, while increasing functional capability.

General Features

  • DisplayPort 1.1a compliant receiver, supporting 1 or 2 lane operation at 1.62 or 2.7Gbps link rate.
  • Low power consumption, 236mW for WXGA+ (1440×900)
  • No external crystal or clock reference needed; uses Parade’s exclusive CrystalFree technology
  • Can initialize operation without link training, reducing driver / vbios complexity and display-on time
  • Adaptive or programmable DisplayPort receiver equalization mitigates request for DisplayPort source pre-emphasis, lowering system power
  • Supports Spread Spectrum Clocking (SSC) from DisplayPort source
  • High receiver sensitivity enables DisplayPort source amplitude down to 200mVpp, saving system power
  • On-chip microprocessor with SPI ROM interface
  • Light sensor input and programmable Pulse-Width-Modulation (PWM) backlight control output
