VESA Certified USB Type-C to HDMI 2.0 Dongles now available from Fullink Technology and Gopod Group Utilizing Parade’s PS176 Device

Santa Clara, Calif.— 23 May 2017 —Parade Technologies, Ltd. (Taiwan OTC: 4966.TWO), a leading video display and high-speed interface IC supplier, today announced that the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) has recently awarded DisplayPort™ certification to two USB-C™ to HDMI™ 2.0 video adapters, both of which use Parade’s PS176 DisplayPort to HDMI 2.0 protocol converter. These are the first USB-C to HDMI 2.0 video adapters, using the DisplayPort Alt Mode, that meet the rigorous VESA Compliance Test Specification certification testing requirements.

These newly VESA certified adapters, or dongles, are products made by Fullink Techology Co., Ltd. (http://www.hkfullink.com), and Gopod Group Limited (http://www.gopod.cc). The Fullink and Gopod adapters plug into a DisplayPort Alternate Mode capable USB-C (or USB Type-C™) receptacle and convert the DisplayPort signal to HDMI 2.0 using the Parade PS176 chip. The Fullink and Gopod adapters are now listed in the VESA Certified Products Database.

“We are very pleased with the productization capability of both Fullink and Gopod. Their attention to detail is very impressive,” said Jimmy Chiu, Executive VP of Marketing at Parade Technologies. “For this USB-C product category, in addition to using our device, VESA certification includes proper implementation of the USB-C controller and high speed signal management at the DP input and HDMI output. These are areas they both executed well, providing reliable 4K display performance.”

“Certification of various DisplayPort over USB-C products has gained momentum since the start of the certification program for these products in June of 2016, and this has accelerated with the official release of the DisplayPort Alternate Mode on USB Type-C Compliance Test Specification in January of this year,” said James Choate, Compliance Manager of VESA. “With this, a robust DisplayPort over USB ecosystem is now getting established. OEMs and consumers should seek products with VESA certification to ensure expected device operation. The certification of these particular USB-C to HDMI 2.0 adapters will also enable their use in VESA certification testing of DisplayPort over USB-C video source devices, to ensure they support such adapters as expected.”

The VESA DisplayPort Alt Mode, also known at DisplayPort over USB-C, enables the USB-C connector to support full DisplayPort capability, including the support of protocol conversion.  Many new devices including the latest laptop computers use DisplayPort over USB-C as the video connector to an external monitor.  When used with a DisplayPort Alt Mode enabled USB-C video source device, which includes all Thunderbolt 3 video source devices, a USB-C to HDMI 2.0 video adapter allows connection to an external HDMI monitor with resolution up to 4K.  For more information visit www.displayport.org.
