PS8598 – 64Gbps PCIe® Gen 6 8-Lane Redriver
The PS8598 is a bidirectional 8-lane PCIe linear redriver supporting up to PCIe Gen6 64GT/s with PAM4. It integrates programmable equalizers to effectively compensate for PCB trace and cable losses, while maintaining excellent linearity to ensure transparency during PCIe link training and preserve signal integrity. The device includes an automatic squelch function that drives outputs to common-mode voltage when input signals fall below threshold, preventing unnecessary signal repetition. Featuring a low-power architecture, the PS8598 eliminates the need for a heatsink, streamlining system design and reducing overall BoM cost.
PS8598 fully supports PCIe power-saving modes, including L0s, L1, and deep power-saving substates L1.1 and L1.2, with transitions controlled via the CLKREQB pin tied to system. A channel-based power management mechanism allows idle lanes to automatically enter low-power states, resuming instantly once valid signals are detected. Configuration is supported through SMBus/I2C programming or external EEPROM loading.
With its combination of high linearity, advanced equalization, and fine-grained power management, the PS8598 is well suited for high-bandwidth, low-power applications in servers, data centers, and other PCIe Gen6 platforms.
