TC3222 – 2886-Channel eDP Tcon Embedded Display Driver
The TC3222 is a highly integrated eDP Timing Controller (Tcon) embedded driver (TED) IC developed for thin-profile LCD display panels. The Tcon input is eDP 1.4b compliant but does not support the optional PSR (Panel Self-Refresh) or PSR2 features; for PSR and PSR2 support, please refer to the TC3210. TC3222 comes with Multi-SST Operation (MSO). It supports all panel resolutions up to 2240×1440 using an 18 or 24-bit color format with single chip. Adding a second TC3222, in MSO mode, enables panel resolutions up to 3072×2160. With support for the proprietary video interface protocols offered by major CPU, GPU and SoC vendors, system implementation is straight-forward. The integrated source drivers support up to 2886 output channels with support for dual-gate and MUX2/MUX3 sub-pixel driving structures.
The TC3222 is designed for Flip Chip on Glass application on both a-Si (Amorphous Silicon) and Oxide type TFT (Thin-Film Transistor) panels. Mounting the highly integrated TC3222 directly onto the LCD panel results in reduced display form factor, BOM cost, and power consumption, all of which benefit portable, battery-powered systems. The TC3222 requires no external crystal or timing reference, includes a programmable gamma buffer, as well as Parade’s exclusive Smart-Backlight™ feature for additional color and power optimization. Fully programmable row and column driver timing enables the TC3222 to serve a broad range of panels types, and it provides synchronization signals that support a wide range of touch controllers.
