PS196 is a DisplayPort 2.0 to HDMI 2.1 Protocol Converter that receives both video and audio streams over a DisplayPort link and converts to HDMI supporting either TMDS or FRL output signaling. The DP receiver supports up to 8.1Gbps link rate over 4 lanes. The HDMI output port can operate as a TMDS or FRL transmitter. The FRL transmitter is compliant with the HDMI 2.1 specification supporting up to the maximum data rate up to 12Gbps per lane enabling display resolutions up to 10K@50Hz utilizing DSC pass-through mode. HDMI TMDS transmission is supported up to the maximum allowed data rate of 6Gbps per lane, providing a display up to 4Kx2K at 60Hz refresh rate with 24-bit color and 3D video formats up to 1080p at 120Hz. PS196 supports the DSC1.1/1.2a compressed video transport stream with applied FEC decoding and encoding to ensure visual glitch-free DSC Bitstream transmission.

PS196 has an integrated Arm® Cortex®-M4 processor that enables fully autonomous operation and robust system compatibility and interoperability. Firmware customization is achievable utilizing u the external SPIROM, and firmware field updates can be enabled through Parade’s licensed AUX-updater that utilizes highly encrypted firmware security. The PS196 fully supports both HDCP 1.4 and HDCP 2.3 content protection, including the HDCP repeater function with integrated HDCP Rx and Tx keys.

Adhering to Parade’s design legacy, PS196 has the best power performance available on the market. The very low power consumption extends the battery life of portable device when operating in standby and low power mode.
